Assessment that becomes a growth tool.

Most SEL tools deliver a score and stop. SCOPE turns each assessment into a clear, actionable picture of where a child is thriving and where they're ready to grow — plus the next instructional steps to get them there. Here's what that looks like in practice.

Growth on a developmental scale

SCOPE reports each of the seven skills on a four-level scale. It's a snapshot of where a learner is right now — not a pass/fail grade, and never a ranking against classmates.

Level 1
Emerging

Beginning to show the skill with adult support; an important starting point to build on.

Level 2
Developing

Uses the skill inconsistently; growing more independent with modeling and practice.

Level 3
Proficient

Applies the skill reliably across everyday situations with little prompting.

Level 4
Advanced

Uses the skill flexibly and helps others, even in new or challenging situations.

What a student profile looks like

A sample beginning-of-year SEL profile. Every result pairs a domain score with a developmental band, strengths, growth opportunities, and concrete next steps.

🌟 Strengths

  • Shows enthusiasm for group participation when given clear structure.
  • Recognizes feelings like "happy" and "mad" in himself and others.
  • Demonstrates basic fairness when conflicts are low-pressure.

🌱 Growth opportunities

  • Practice emotional regulation strategies during mild frustration.
  • Model and rehearse active listening — eye contact, summarizing peers.
  • Use structured peer mediation to scaffold independent conflict resolution.
  • Support growth-mindset language ("I can't do it yet").
Projected trajectory: With consistent SEL instruction, scaffolded peer interactions, and adult coaching, Jordan is expected to strengthen his skills across domains and move into the Developing band by midyear.

Scenario answers, self-ratings, and reviewed open responses combine into a level for each skill — plus a printable family summary in plain, encouraging language.

Outcomes for everyone in a child's circle

Because SCOPE reports growth in specific, teachable domains, the same data serves students, educators, and school leaders — each in the way they need.

🧒

For students

  • Language for self-reflection and agency over their own growth.
  • Progress measured against their own journey, not their classmates.
  • A growth mindset: skills you can build, not a fixed judgment of character.
🍎

For teachers

  • Domain-level data that shows not just where gaps exist but how they show up.
  • Assessment as a planning tool — each domain links to instructional strategies.
  • Real-time, actionable insight instead of delayed, end-of-year scores.
🧭

For school leaders

  • A shared developmental language across classrooms, teams, and systems.
  • Authentic indicators of engagement and climate for improvement planning.
  • SEL treated as core infrastructure — beyond attendance or discipline proxies.
