Questions come in four formats, so every child can show what they know. It takes about 25–30 minutes, uses the form built for the child's grade, and there are no wrong answers on the reflection questions.
Read real facial expressions and social scenes — including mixed, nuanced emotions.
Infer what a character feels and choose kind, fair responses to everyday situations.
Open questions children answer in their own words — typed or spoken aloud.
Gentle self-ratings ("that sounds like me!") that capture how children see themselves.
A second grader and an eighth grader don't show these skills the same way — so they don't take the same assessment. Each grade has its own form, with its own pictures, stories, and reflection prompts. All seven skills are measured on every form, so a child's growth stays comparable from one year to the next.
Grade 2
The gentlest form — more pictures, simpler stories, and short reflection prompts children can say out loud.
Grade 3
More story questions and a fuller set of self-ratings as children begin reading social situations independently.
Grades 4–5
Longer scenarios with more nuance, and reflection questions that ask children to explain their thinking.
Grades 6, 7 & 8
A separate form for each grade, with older-student situations — group projects, friendship shifts, online choices — and more room to write.

A first-grade form is in development, delivered in two short sittings so our youngest learners can show what they know without tiring — the same seven skills, split across two visits.
SCOPE reports growth on a four-level developmental scale. It's a snapshot of where a learner is right now — not a pass/fail grade, and never a ranking.
Picture & story answers, self-ratings, and reviewed open responses combine into a level for each of the seven skills — plus strengths, room-to-grow areas, and a printable family summary.
